I Married A Critic

We were going to record our thoughts on the great shoes that Pediped makes, but we decided to let Hallie show off everything that she can do in her pair! Watch to see how much she loves them!

Old School Pizza & Suds

What goes best with pizza? Suds or our additional guest critics, my sister Jessie and her husband Marc? We reached into the vault (a.k.a. Nathan finally got off his lazy butt and finished editing this video) for a restaurant review we did back in the fall. Did we ultimately like our pizza at Old School Pizza & Suds? And who do you think knows more about beer - the Chandlers or the Wards? Watch to find out!

Old School Pizza & Suds is located in downtown Arlington near the UTA campus. For more information, visit: http://www.oldschoolpizza.us/

Real Steel

Our first guest critics have arrived! Meet Michael and Lauren Sturdy… A newlywed couple who decide to give us their unique take on this past weekend’s #1 movie, Real Steel. Their review happens to coincide on the same day as Hugh Jackman’s birthday! What are the odds? And what are the odds that Michael and Lauren actually saw the movie?

Fall TV Review

We’ve dwindled our DVR down enough to give you our quick thoughts on the Fall TV schedule.  We’re extremely excited about the new shows The New Girl Up All Night, while Whitney and X Factor should be left in TV purgatory.  Watch our quick thoughts on such shows like The Good WifeModern FamilyPan AmParenthoodGrey’s Anatomy and many more.  And be sure to count how many times we say the word “staple.”  It could be a new drinking game!

Bachelor Pad 2 Finale

Bachelor Pad 2 has ended. It’s truly a sad day for Whitney. Watch our thoughts on the 3-hour finale, despite our dryer constantly going off in the background (sorry). We discuss the merit of the Cirque du Soleil challenge, the self-proclaimed talents of Kasey and we dissect the always awkward “After the Rose” episode. We react to the winners, losers, couples, not-so couples, fiances (Gasp!) and the announcement of the new Bachelor. So much to comment on… so little time.

What do you think about the winning couple? Were you shocked by the finale’s surprises? Have you found closure with the love triangle that is Jake, Vienna and Kasey? Do you like the pick for the next Bachelor?

We would love to hear from you and please let us know what other things or shows you would like us to talk about!

Bachelor Pad 2 Ep 5

There is only one more episode left of Bachelor Pad 2!  We explain why it’s so awkward to watch this show with your parents (A hint… Erica and Blake’s date did not help).  We dive into how Michelle and Graham are the new power couple while Vienna and Kasey were left to… uh, cuddle.  And we even conduct our own version of the Nearly-Wed Game.

As always, please let us know your thoughts on who got voted out tonight, the oddity that is Kasey and Vienna, and who you will think will ultimately win next week!

Bachelor Pad 2 - Ep. 4

Our thoughts on bad breath, the craziness that is Melissa, and who we think has the best chance of winning Bachelor Pad 2.

What do you think about the people who were voted out tonight?  Who do you think has the best chance of winning?  Should Michael and Holly be together?  Do you love or hate Blake?

The Flying Fish - Arlington, TX - Restaurant Review

The Flying Fish is a new restaurant in downtown Arlington off of Abram St.  It’ a really great seafood place that has plenty of variety for the whole family.  The staff are very friendly and bring a fun and casual feel to the restaurant.  The blues music in the background had Hallie swaying back and forth the whole meal.  We really enjoyed how it’s trying to attract the local crowd.  Posted throughout the walls are pictures of Arlington’s finest citizens with a description of their grand “fish story.” If you don’t live in Arlington, it’s very close to both The Ballpark and Cowboy Stadium.     So it’s a very accessible place to eat a meal before or after the big game.  You can also find The Flying Fish in many cities in the DFW metroplex.

For more info on The Flying Fish, you can visit: http://www.flyingfishinthe.net/

Please excuse the lacking camera work.  We didn’t exactly ask for permission to film, so we were trying to be a little inconspicuous. Hopefully they won’t mind the free publicity!

Bachelor Pad 2 - Ep. 3

Some thoughts

  • What in the world is gator blood?  And how did Jake get some?
  • Was anybody truly excited to see Natalie and Dave?
  • I did not need to see that underwater “package” shot.
  • I absolutely had no idea what happened on Michelle’s date, nor do I need to know.
  • We were eating a snack when Jake and Erica kissed and we kind of threw up in our mouth a little.
  • When Kasey calls you crazy, you know you must be crazy.
  • Who do you think is gone?  We would love to hear from you!

The Company Men - He Said/She Said Review

Nathan

If I were a newspaper movie critic in 2010, I think The Company Men would be at the top of my Best Of The Year list.  This past weekend we had the opportunity to sit down with my parents and watch this little seen indie drama.  The film focuses on some major players in a prestigious transportation corporation, and how the recent economy woes have affected both their professional and personal lives.  It has an amazing cast including Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, Maria Bello, Craig T. Nelson, Rosemary DeWitt and Kevin Costner.  Yes, it’s a little depressing at times, but I was amazed at how first time film director, John Wells, tells a story that taps into your anxieties and fears, but instills a hope that the way to make it through it all is often right at your fingertips.  I’m telling you, take a chance with this film, and I bet you find yourself recommending it to others.

Whitney

When Nathan came home from the Redbox with a movie entitled The Company Men and told me who was in it, I thought why did he rent that?  I imagined it being a dark movie about a scandal gone wrong.  I was planning what I was going to work on while we watched it.   From the very beginning of the movie, I was sucked into the characters lives.  The writer and director did a great job of capturing and developing real characters that we all could relate to.  I also really enjoyed how the director allowed the viewer to think for themselves at times.  Many of the scenes were cut short, forcing the viewer to infer what took place, how much time had passed or how the characters were feeling.  This direction made a rather slower paced theme move quickly helping to keep my interest.  I didn’t play on facebook, read blogs, sleep or fold laundry, so I must have loved The Company Men.
